China Aleisse
China Aleisse is a creative producer, community organizer, and writer based along the western coast of Turtle Island. She is an avid supporter of grassroots initiatives, a practitioner of sustainable community development practices, and an advocate for intentionality in global outreach. As a nomadic creator, China Aleisse allows her travels and domestic lived experiences to inform her artistic practices.
She is a self-published author of scoundrel. (2014), a handstitched chapbook addressing the realities of adolescent addictions to substances, sex, and overthinking. In Naarm (Melbourne, Australia) 2018, she created Floating Key, a nomadic platform prioritizing Black elevation, Indigenous reverence, and sustainable community activation. Her current praxis focuses on self-development and intentional community engagement to develop a firm foundation for collaborative creation in the future. Currently, she is practicing what she preaches and reconciling what it means to be an artist who lives by example.
China is a 2014 recipient of DePaul University’s Emerging Writer Award and the 2018 recipient of Best in Words & Ideas by the Melbourne Fringe Festival.
She is available for creative consultations for web development, and support for creative projects. You can reach China Aleisse through the Floating Key website, via email, or via social media.
